JAKARTA - Mount Lewotobi Male in East Flores Regency (Flotim), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has erupted four times in six hours of observation period from 12.00 WITA to 18.00 WITA.

"The eruption was observed four times with a height of 600-2,000 meters and gray smoke," said the officer of the Mount Lewotobi Volcano Observation Post (PGA), Emanuel Rofinus Bere, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 25.

He explained that the four eruptions were recorded with an amplitude of 3.7-14.8 mm and a duration of 97 seconds to 148 seconds.

During the observation period, it was visually observed that Mount Lewotobi Male was clear to 0-I fog.

"Weak pressure crater smoke was observed to be white with moderate to thick intensity and 50-100 meters high above the crater peak," he said.

The weather around Mount Lewotobi Laki in the observation period was reported to be sunny and cloudy. The wind is blowing weakly to the southwest and west. The temperature is 27.8-31.3 degrees Celsius.

Because the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Male is still Level III (Alert), he appealed to the public and tourists not to carry out activities within a six km radius of the eruption center.

"Stay calm and follow directions from local governments. The public is also asked not to trust information with unclear sources," he said.

He also asked the community around Mount Lewotobi Men to be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding in rivers that originate at the top of Mount Lewotobi Men in the event of high-intensity rain, especially the Dulipali, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Nu Selapolen, Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, Nawakote areas.

"People affected by the ash rain of Mount Lewotobi Male, wear masks or mouth and mouth coverings to avoid the danger of volcanic ash in the respiratory system," he said.
