JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency is now starting to install a monitoring system for the number and pattern of passenger movements on Transjabodetabek buses.

In this Passenger Load Intelligence System (PLIS) system, Dishub uses cameras that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

"It is a counting model for the number of passengers. So it's a kind of survey on buses, but now it uses artificial intelligence," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, to reporters, Friday, August 22.

Currently, PLIS is still being tested on the Transjabodetabek route Sumarecon Bekasi-Cawang. Syafrin also explained the reasons for choosing the B41 bus route to be tested.

"Because this is proof of concept, so those who are chosen meet the characteristics of urban and super urban movement patterns," said Syafrin.

By utilizing AI-tech cameras, the Transportation Agency is digging up the monitoring data of Transjabodetabek passengers to become a study material in future transportation system policies.

"It's just for trials. So it's kind of proof of concept related to this. If then this is effective for us to use it as an overall calculation model, then it will be copy-pasted to all Transjakarta services," he added.
