Jokowi's Ambawang Grilled Pork Polemic, Fahri Hamzah Uploads Tweet: The Jokes Make Fasting Cancel

JAKARTA - The speech of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received harsh criticism from netizens, for promoting Bipang Ambawang (Grilled Pork), a typical food of Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Bipang itself is grilled pork. This food is haram for consumption by Muslims. For this reason, Jokowi's speech becomes a polemic on why he promotes Bipang Ambawang during the Eid homecoming.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it will be Eid al-Fitr soon. However, because it is still in a pandemic atmosphere, the government has prohibited homecoming for our common safety," said Jokowi in a video shared on social media.

"For ladies and gentlemen who miss regional culinary delights or who usually homecoming to bring souvenirs, there is no need to hesitate to order them online. Those who miss eating gudeg Jogja, Semarang milkfish, Bandung dumplings, empek-empek Palembang, bipang Ambawang from Kalimantan, and others, just order. And favorite food will be delivered to the house," said Jokowi.

One of the accounts with the name @Bosstemlen questioned why Jokowi was promoting Grilled Pork at the moment of Eid.

"The theme is Eid ... Why is there Bipang Ambawang Sir ?," he wrote in response to Jokowi's video footage.

Meanwhile, Fahri Hamzah shared a story on Twitter about jokes that may cancel his fast. According to him, the joke was too much.

"The joke is canceling the fast," Fahri said in his tweet.

It is not known whether this quote is related to Bipang Ambawang. It's just that after uploading the tweet, Fahri Hamzah offended the Palace.

"I often say, The president's kitchen is not good," said Fahri.
