JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather on Tuesday, August 5 in most cities in Indonesia still has the potential to rain with various intensities, accompanied by sunny cloudy conditions in several other areas.

BMKG Miftah Ali forecasters said that in Sumatra only Banda Aceh and Pekanbaru are predicted to experience thick cloudy weather, with light rain predicted to be experienced in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang and Bandarlampung areas.

Meanwhile, he explained, there is the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Jambi, Bengkulu and Padang areas.

"On the island of Java, cloudy weather is predicted to occur in the city of Surabaya and light rain is predicted to occur in the cities of Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Yogyakarta," Miftah said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 5.

For the Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, sunny and cloudy conditions are predicted by the BMKG to be experienced by people in the Kupang and Mataram areas and cloudy weather in Denpasar.

In Kalimantan, he reminded that there is the potential for light rain in Tanjung Selo, Pontianak, Samarinda and Palangkaraya as well as thick cloudy conditions in the Banjarmasin area.

Heavy cloudy weather is also predicted by BMKG to occur today in Makassar and Kendari. During the same period, light rain is predicted to fall in Mamuju and Palu as well as moderate intensity rain in Gorontalo and Manado.

For the eastern part of Indonesia, Jayapura is predicted to experience cloudy conditions accompanied by the potential for light rain in Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Merauke and Jayawijaya. There is also the potential for moderate rain in Ternate and rain accompanied by lightning in the Nabire region.
