JAMBI - Three roads in Merangin District, Jambi Province, have collapsed, eroded by water. One point of the road was even totally damaged and could not be passed by vehicles.

Merangin Regent, H. Al Haris, together with the Head of Merangin Public Works and Housing Office, Aspan, and Acting Head of Regional Disaster Management Agency of Merangin Regency, H. Syafri, immediately reviewed and prepared steps to normalize the route.

Reporting from Antara, Thursday, May 6, one of the collapsed roads was in Sungai Kapas Village to Bukit Beringin Village, Bangko District. The road there was cut off due to the collapse of the culverts being eroded by the flood. Fortunately, part of the road is still passable.

"The culvert for this road was built in the 1980s, so it has been quite a while. We will repair this road soon, so that the road, which is the lifeblood of the community's economy, can quickly return to normal," said the Regent.

The same thing was seen when the regent monitored the condition of the Pinang Merah Village road to Rasau Village, West Pamenang District. However, part of the road has been covered with dirt, so that vehicles can still be passed.

Meanwhile, the worst condition occurred on Desa Meranti road towards Desa Pinang Merah, Subdistrict of Renah Pemenang. The road was totally cut off. Vehicles can no longer pass.

"Apart from being eroded by floods, many of the road culverts are also broken due to age. We will soon replace the broken culverts with new ones," said the Regent.

Considering that all the road damage was caused by the flood disaster, the regent will use the unexpected funds to repair the road.

The Regent said that his party continues to strive to improve the quality of roads in the area to support citizen mobility, especially improving the regional economy.

Although in a pandemic condition, said Al Haris, the Merangin Regency Government has allocated improvements to road and bridge infrastructure.

In addition to roads, his office has also repaired a number of pedestrian bridge facilities at several points in Merangin district, which have contours crossed by a number of rivers with significant widths.
