JAKARTA - Police officers in Tulungagung, East Java arrested three thieves who often acted at night targeting abandoned houses where their owners were carrying out Tarawih prayers at the mosque.

Head of Public Relations of the Tulungagung Police, Iptu Tri Sakti Saiful Hidayat, said that one of the three theft perpetrators was arrested in the Kalidawir Police jurisdiction, while the other two were arrested in Ngantru District.

"The case in Kalidawir is not related to the theft in Ngantru. The perpetrator is different, but the mode is almost the same, namely stealing when the victim's house is empty and the Tarawih prayer is left," said Iptu Tri Sakti, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 4.

In the case in Kalidawir, the perpetrator was arrested by officers after the Muslim victim, who had just been attacked by thieves, complained about what happened to the police.

After the officers processed the scene of the case, the identified perpetrator named Wahyu Nurdiansyah (21) was arrested.

According to provisional admissions, a total of four houses have been visited by the youth from Bethak Village, Kalidawir District, and all of them are performed every Tarawih prayer.

A similar incident also occurred in the jurisdiction of the Ngantru Police. Two people were arrested in theft and weighting in the same mode in Ngantru District.

The two of them are Koliq bin Ikhwan (52), a resident of Jalan Jatisari RT 04 / RW 06, Pepelegi Urban Village, Waru District, Sidoarjo Regency. The perpetrator was arrested at Jombang Terminal. When examined, the perpetrator admitted all his actions.

During the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted to having committed theft with Panji Lianto (41), a resident of Jalan Pahlawan Gg Kamboja RT 03 / RW 01, Kedungwaru Village / District, Tulungagung Regency.

When he was arrested, Panji was selling around Jalan Kapten Kasihin. The perpetrators of theft with weight in Ngantru have acted at least at 6 different TKPs in 2 sub-districts, namely Ngantru District and Karangrejo District.

From the hands of the two perpetrators, the officers managed to secure a number of pieces of evidence, such as money, cell phones, jewelery, and a number of other evidence which the police are still developing.
