President Jokowi Distributes 10 Thousand Basic Food Packages For NTB Residents

MATARAM - President Joko Widodo distributed 10,000 packages of basic necessities. This assistance was handed over through dozens of Islamic boarding schools to be distributed to the poor affected by COVID-19 in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"The aid is handed over to 13 Islamic boarding schools in NTB. Later the pesantren will distribute it to those in need," said Yuliani, a representative of State Secretary (Setneg) at the NTB Governor's office in Mataram, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 4.

Yuliani said the 10,000 packages contained five kilograms of rice, one liter of cooking oil, biscuits, tea, and others.

The assistance from the President was received symbolically directly by the Governor of NTB, H Zulkieflimansyah, and was immediately handed over to representatives of Islamic boarding schools.

According to Yuliani during a working visit to NTT, President Joko Widodo handed over 23,000 food packages and 10,000 was allocated for NTB.

"The recipients come from the NU, Muhammadiyah, NW, and other Islamic boarding schools," she said.

Meanwhile, the Governor of NTB, H Zulkieflimansyah hopes that the basic needs assistance can help alleviate people's basic needs during Ramadan.

"Hopefully this can be useful and help people in the month of Ramadan," she said.
