GIANYAR- Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar stated that the construction of North Bali International Airport (BIBU) has received the blessing of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Currently, the development process is just waiting for the location determination (lock) from the Ministry of Transportation.

"I have spoken directly with the President many times, and he said okay. The President's blessing has been obtained. Technical equipment has also been prepared. We will continue to strive so that North Bali International Airport will soon be realized," said Muhaimin in Gianyar, Bali, Thursday, June 26.

He emphasized that the existence of a new airport in North Bali will accelerate the equitable distribution of economic development, especially in the northern region of the Island of the Gods, which has been relatively lagging behind the southern region.

"With the construction of North Bali International Airport, there will be an acceleration of economic growth in the northern region. Bali is not only strong in terms of culture, but will also be a destination with a more equitable economic power," he explained.

The airport, which was initiated by PT BIBU Panji Sakti, is said to be included in the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). According to Muhaimin, President Prabowo wants to make Bali the gateway for tourism and the international economy that is able to compete with neighboring countries.

"The president is very serious in efforts to accelerate development in Bali, ranging from health facilities, international access, to modern accommodation. He said that we must not lose to neighboring countries, and Bali meets all the requirements for that," he added.

As part of this development, supporting infrastructure such as roads and international standard public facilities will also be built, but still harmoniously combined with local wisdom and Balinese culture.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT BIBU Panji Sakti, Erwanto Sad Adiatmoko Hariwibowo, revealed that the entire airport construction process is now on the right track and is just waiting for the official announcement time.

"From yesterday we were still optimistic. This year's target, maybe even just a matter of months. Everything has been done. Just waiting for the announcement when the groundbreaking will be carried out," said Erwanto.

He ensured that the penlok had also been prepared by the Ministry of Transportation and there were no significant obstacles at this stage. "Penlok has been prepared. There are no more obstacles. Everything went according to plan," he concluded.
