19 Convicts Escaped From Nabire Prison, 11 Of Them Are KKB Members

JAKARTA - A total of 19 inmates escaped from the Class IIB Nabire Prison, Central Papua. Eleven of them are members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"Yes, 11 people are known to be part of the KKB," said Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Yusuf Sutejo to VOI, Monday, June 2.

The eleven inmates who are members of the KKB are Yotenus Wonda, Alison Wonda, Tandangan Kogoya who is the KKB Puncak Jaya.

Then, Alenus Tabuni, Junius Waker, Yantis Murib, Ardinus Kogoya, Pelinus Kogoya, Marenus Tabuni who are members of the Puncak KKB.

The prisoners who fled were Anan Nawipa and Yakobus Nawipa who were members of the Paniai KKB.

Meanwhile, other inmates who are not members of the KKB are Agus Gobay, Yeheskiel Degei, Noak Tekege, Gimun Kogoya, Typeon Gobay, Roy Wonda, Andreas Tekege, Ayumpan Tekege.

Regardless of the identities of the eleven KKB members, Yusuf appealed to the public to remain calm but vigilant. If they know their whereabouts, they are asked to report it immediately.

"We urge people in the Nabire area and its surroundings not to panic. If you see or know information related to the whereabouts of prisoners, especially those affiliated with the KKB, immediately report it to the nearest apparatus or call the Police call center," said Yusuf.

The escape of the inmates took place on Monday, June 2, at around 11.00 WIT. However, the series of events or chronology related to the action is not yet known.

Based on the video circulating, when an inmate escaped, an inmate attacked an officer using a machete.

There were three officers at the Nabire Class IIB Prison who were injured. Now, they are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
