KPK: Education Is A Powerful Weapon Against Corruption

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said education was very important. He conveyed this to cover the 2021 National Education Day which falls today, Sunday, May 2.

"The KPK certainly considers education to be very important because it becomes the lifeblood and vital element in efforts to build character and integrity of the nation, through quality education that instills anti-corruption values in it," Firli said in a written statement to reporters.

He said education was an effort to realize the goals of the country. In fact, education is a powerful weapon.

"With an intelligent nation it will bring general welfare to all of the nation's children. In fact, education is one of the most powerful weapons we can use to change the world," said Firli.

So, based on these reasons, the KPK included education in the long-term plan for 2011-2023. "And not only that, the Corruption Eradication Commission also places education as the first of three other corruption eradication strategies, which are the core business of the KPK," said the former KPK Deputy for Enforcement.

By using formal and non-formal education networks from kindergarten to tertiary institutions, the anti-corruption commission has included elements and values of anti-corruption education in society. It is hoped that this can shape and maintain the character and integrity of every child of the nation so that they are not affected by the latent danger of corruption.

"It is undeniable that the values of struggle taught by Ki Hadjar Dewantara and other educational heroes are all true. Through education, we can certainly embrace a better life and future," he said.

"Remember, the future of this nation is not determined when it was born, but with education and a spirit of learning, fighting, working hard, God willing, the future of this country will be even better," he concluded.
