The Minister Of Manpower Claims Many Government Initiatives To Improve Workers' Welfare

JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah explained several steps and initiatives taken by the government to improve worker welfare. Among them are wage subsidy assistance (BSU) and various competency improvement programs.

"There are many initiatives taken by the government to improve workers' welfare, including the BSU that the government has given to workers affected by COVID-19," said the Minister of Manpower in the official statement of Labor Day 2021 quoted by Antara, Friday, April 30.

In addition, she said, there are also various other programs that have been, are being, and continue to be carried out by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as vocational training using the blended training method or mixed training.

There is also apprenticeship in industry, training to increase productivity for the workforce, certification of competence, and placement of domestic workers.

There are also steps for the placement of foreign workers, training for new entrepreneurs, business incubation, labor-intensive and healthy workers movement.

Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the Ministry of Manpower has also made sure to issue policies related to the provision of religious holiday allowances (THR) to workers and laborers which must be given in full.

Ida hopes that the stimulus will be able to drive public consumption which will also have an impact on the performance of various companies.

"We will not stop here. I will continue to encourage other initiatives to be implemented immediately. May Day this year is special because it is a celebration of hope," said Menaker Ida.
