JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will experience rain with varying intensity on Thursday, March 20, from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.
BMKG forecaster Hasalika was quoted by ANTARA as saying that light rain is predicted to occur in several major cities on the island of Sumatra, namely Medan, North Sumatra; Padang, West Sumatra; Pekanbaru, Riau; Jambi; and Bengkulu.
"Meanwhile, on the island of Java, light rain has the potential to flush Jakarta; Bandung, West Java; Semarang, Central Java; Yogyakarta; and Surabaya, East Java. Similar conditions are also predicted to occur in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; Palu, Central Sulawesi; Makassar, South Sulawesi; and Ternate and Ambon in Maluku," he said.
Meanwhile, moderate-intensity rain has the potential to occur in Gorontalo, Sorong, and Jayapura. Next, BMKG also warned of potential rain accompanied by lightning and lightning in several areas, such as Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; Denpasar, Bali; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; and Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan.
"Then, rain accompanied by lightning also has the potential to occur in Manado, North Sulawesi; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; Nabire, Central Papua; Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains; and Merauke, South Papua," he said.
Meanwhile, conditions of running away have the potential to occur in Bandar Lampung, Lampung; and Manokwari, West Papua. Cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, Aceh; and Palembang, South Sumatra.
