JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to complaints from residents about the unpleasant smell of the waste processing process at the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant Rorotan, Cilincing, North Jakarta.
In fact, one of the 5-year-old children also protested the foul smell of RDF Rorotan. This boy named Kefas made a complaint in a written letter that he had no appetite due to the unpleasant smell.
Pramono admitted that he would immediately check the location of the RDF Plant Rorotan to find out the cause of the pollution of the smell of garbage that disturbs residents.
"I read objections or complaints and so on. For that, I went to the field first, I wanted to see first," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, March 19.
The former Cabinet Secretary did not want to reveal what steps the DKI Provincial Government will take in overcoming the problem of odor due to the operation of the waste processing facility.
"I couldn't comment before I saw it firsthand. Because this was made before me, far away, and now it's finished," he said.
The problem of the bad smell of RDF Rorotan has disturbed residents since last February. At that time, the pre-commissioning RDF was leaked and caused a smell of garbage felt by local residents.
Commissioning is a testing and inspection process to ensure the system and equipment function according to specifications. This process started last weekend.

Project Manager Pembangunan RDF Plant Jakarta KSO Wika-Jaya Konstruksi, Angga Bagus apologized for the incident.
"We are very sorry for the incident that was felt by residents around the RDF Plant Jakarta. We ensure that the incident does not happen again, and will take preventive steps so that similar incidents do not happen again," Angga said in his statement, Thursday, February 13.
Angga explained that the leaking of an unpleasant odor in the commissioning process of this waste processing facility into fuel occurred due to the preparation process (set up) of the Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) unit at the deodorizer, which at that time was not fully operational.
Currently, Angga claims the entire system has been running perfectly and is ready to operate optimally.
The tuning process of this odor and smoke control equipment has caused the equipment to not work optimally. If the set-up is complete, it will definitely work well," explained Angga.
To overcome the incident, the RDF Plant Jakarta technical team evaluated the work of the deodorizer system so that this facility could operate according to environmental standards.
"In the future, we ensure that all odor control technology will work optimally, so that the Jakarta RDF Plant can operate without negative impacts on the surrounding community," he added.
