JAKARTA - Following 44 train stations that use GeNose for negative detection of COVID-19, 21 airports in Indonesia have also used the UGM detection tool. Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi directly monitors the implementation of COVID-19 detection using GeNose at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya, East Java, Saturday, April 24.
"I am very happy that GeNose services at the airport are very easy, fast and cheap. GeNose services at all airports have started since April 1, currently there are 21 airports and 44 train stations," Budi Karya said as quoted by ANTARA.
When compared to the antigen swab test, the cost of genose is much more affordable. An antigen swab costs an average of IDR 200 thousand. Meanwhile, the genose test costs only Rp. 30 thousand. GeNose services at the station have been used by around 500 thousand passengers and at the airport around 100 thousand people.
"So, we must be proud of the products of the nation's children that exist. There are products of the nation's children that don't get sick quickly and are cheap," he continued.
He said, GeNose is to ensure that those who board the plane are negative.
"Later, I will also ask the director general to deal with UGM GeNose products to discuss things that need to be improved, because they still need closer to 100 airports to eastern Indonesia," he said.
His party is grateful to stakeholders in the airport environment who ensure the safety of using GeNose. "Passengers must be healthy. Of course, this service must be added not only to patience but to care, how is the passenger's condition, is he sick or so on," said Budi Karya.
