Police Arrest 8 Perpetrators Of Rental Car Embezzlement In Bandung, Rental-Digaikan Mode

The Bandung City Police (Polrestabes) arrested eight embezzlement perpetrators using the modus operandi of renting a car and then pawning the vehicle.

Cicendo Police Chief Kompol Dadang Gunawan said the disclosure began with the victim, namely the owner of a rental that rented his car to one of the perpetrators with the initials HH.

"We have secured the first perpetrator with the initials HH in the Cianjur area, he who rented the vehicle directly to the rental owner on Jalan Otten, Cicendo area," said Dadang in Bandung, Monday, March 10, as reported by Antara.

Dadang said the eight perpetrators who were arrested each had the initials HH, MH, AP, RI, AS, HS, FH and MTI.

He explained that MM's role was to help with crimes, as well as AP who falsified application data so that the identity of the tenant was difficult to track.

Furthermore, RI and AS acted as liaisons to HS, who became buyers of vehicles resulting from embezzlement.

He said his staff needed 45 days of investigation to successfully uncover the embezzlement of the car. Finally, the rental car was found in West Jakarta.

"We caught him and we managed to get his unit from two suspects in West Jakarta, the last car was used by the MIT suspect," he said.

From the results of the interim examination, he said, it is not yet known whether the perpetrators are a syndicate of car embezzlement or not. In fact, the eight perpetrators do not know each other.

"This needs further investigation whether it is a specialist or a syndicate, but for the time being we have only received it for the first time. The eight perpetrators do not know each other," he said.

Dadang added that his party would conduct further investigations regarding the number of crimes committed by the perpetrators.

"For the results of the interim examination, they admitted that this is the first time they have committed this crime, but we will investigate it again. The article imposed by 378 Jo 33 of the Criminal Code carries a 4-year prison sentence," he said.
