JAMBI - The Jambi Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) thwarted the circulation of 25 kg of methamphetamine in the city, and arrested two suspects suspected of being dealers.

"We have secured 25 packs of green Chinese tea packages containing methamphetamine at the end of February 2025, and development continues," said Head of BNNP Jambi Brigadier General Wisnu Handoko as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 3.

BNNP Jambi arrested two suspects and secured evidence, in collaboration between the narcotics agency and the public who provided information regarding suspicious activities in the solar intersection area of Handil Jaya Village, Jelutung, Jambi City.

Thanks to this information, the BNNP eradication team conducted an investigation into a suspected four-wheeled vehicle. After it was confirmed that the team immediately secured the vehicle unit along with one person who was in the car with the initials "PRW".

Officers took the vehicle to the BNNP office, after being searched by the Brazilian team, they found 25 packs of crystal methamphetamine packaged into Chinese tea. After an in-depth interrogation of PRW, the team received information that one of the suspect's friends was still in a hotel.

Furthermore, with the quick movement, a search was carried out again at the hotel in question from PRW's statement. One person in question turned out to have fled, fortunately the officers received information and pursued the suspect with the initials AIS. Finally, he was arrested in the Sekernan Muaro Jambi area on a bus bound for North Sumatra Medan.

Currently, the suspect and evidence are being secured at the provincial narcotics agency office for the investigation process. BNNP is still developing two suspects and their network.

The head of BNNP previously stated that Jambi Province is an area prone to drug smuggling and trafficking, considering that Jambi is in the middle of the island of Sumatra.

"Jambi is in an area prone to drug smuggling, in the middle and close to the waters of the Malacca Strait and the South China Sea," said Wisnu Handoko.
