Then, in 2002, he was appointed Head of the Supervision Sub-Directorate for the Implementation of BPKP Central Government Agencies Accountability.

At the beginning of its formation, Ateh had joined the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). In 2009, he received a mandate at the Ministry of Administrative Reform (PAN) in various strategic positions, including the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation of Accountability for Performance of Eastern Region II Apparatus, Deputy for Accountability of Apparatus, Inspector, until finally serving as Deputy for Bureaucratic Reform, Accountability of Apparatus, and Supervision.

After serving at the KemenPAN-RB, Ateh then joined the General Company for Money Printing of the Republic of Indonesia (Perri). In 2019, he was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board. Furthermore, on February 5, 2020, President Joko Widodo inaugurated Ateh as Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

During his tenure as Head of BPKP, Ateh was known to actively criticize a number of government policies that were not in line with the target in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

Starting August 5, 2024, he will serve as Acting Head of BPKP. Currently, Ateh is again trusted by Prabowo Subianto to serve as Head of BPKP definitively.
