Ministry Of Defense Has An Inauguration Value Of 5 Defense Staff Of The Minister Of Defense Amid Efficiency Not To Blame Rules

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) assesses that the appointment of five special staff (stafsus) and one special assistant to the Minister of Defense (Menhan) during the budget efficiency period does not violate the rules.

"The Ministry of Defense actually does not violate the rules. It's just that the moment compared to the others is a bit recent," said Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang, at the Ministry of Defense Office, Jakarta, Friday, February 14, as reported by Antara.

Frega added that initially the Ministry of Defense conducted a study of the needs of the staff. Moreover, he continued, based on Presidential Regulation Number 140 of 2024 concerning State Ministry Organizations, it was regulated that the staff who could be appointed at most were five people.

Then, he said, the Ministry of Defense asked for approval from the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), and President Prabowo Subianto regarding the proposed names of the special staff and assistants.

He explained that this was necessary because the appointment of special staff and assistants was based on the Presidential Decree (Keppres).

Meanwhile, he said that five special staff and one special assistant were needed by the Ministry of Defense because they had a scope of tasks that were not found in the ministry organization.

"So yesterday the Ministry of Defense appointed five special staff from the context of defense diplomacy, then the defense economy, state administration, sovereignty, and finally Deddy Corbuzier for special staff for social and public communication, of course to complement it," he said.

Therefore, he hopes that the special staff and assistants can provide special suggestions and considerations to strengthen and expand the dissemination of defense information, including policies from the Ministry of Defense.

"So, it does not mean it is contradictory, but our efficiency is also involved, in this case around 16.24 percent, around Rp26 trillion of efficiency within the Ministry of Defense. However, the needs of the organization, I said earlier that we are talking about sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of the nation," he said.

Previously, Tuesday, February 11, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin appointed five special staff and one special assistant, including celebrity Deodatus Andreas Deddy Cahyadi Sunjoyo or familiarly called Deddy Corbuzier.

In addition to Presidential Decree Number 140 of 2024, Presidential Decree Number 151 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of Defense set by President Prabowo Subianto on November 5, 2024, has regulated the staff for the Minister of Defense.

In Article 51 of Presidential Decree Number 151/2024, it is stipulated that the special staff can be appointed at most five people, and has a maximum term of service equal to the term of office of the minister concerned.

Then, the budget efficiency policy is a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) for Fiscal Year 2025.
