Prabowo Talks Cloning Technology to Increase National Beef Production

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said that the use of cloning technology to achieve food self-sufficiency. This was conveyed by Prabowo in a state of the nation address at the 2026 Annual Session at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

Initially, Prabowo had alluded to the government's plan to buy the best companies in the world. The goal is so that Indonesia can get the technology that is being developed.

"We will also buy the world's best companies, so that we can get the technology, we can get the IP, we can get the best management, we can get the market, we can get their experience so that later our economy will be strong," said Prabowo, Friday, August 14.

Prabowo further said that the technology from the acquired company could be used for domestic needs. For example, in order to achieve food self-sufficiency, especially in the beef commodity.

"For example, to increase meat production, we need a lot of cows. With that, we can get cloning technology," said the former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia.

"With cloning we can multiply our livestock," he continued.

Meanwhile, Prabowo said that cattle commodities were indeed the focus so that they could be produced more domestically in the next 5-6 years.

Meanwhile, eight commodities are said by Prabowo to be self-sufficient. The details are rice, self-sufficient corn, self-sufficient consumption sugar, chicken meat, chicken eggs, red onions, large chilies, and sweet peas.

"This year we have become self-sufficient in eight food commodities."
