"The East Flores Regency Government has asked residents who have returned to six villages in the Disaster-Prone Area to immediately evacuate back to the post or find a safe place independently," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Thursday, February 13.
Abdul Muhari said that anticipatory steps are important to reduce risks for people around the mountain.
He also appealed to the public to avoid activities within a radius of six kilometers from the eruption center and the southwest-northeast sector as far as seven kilometers.
"The public is asked to comply with local government directives and not to be provoked by issues that cannot be accounted for," he said.
Mount Lewotobi Male is known to have shown a significant increase in volcanic activity during the observation period 5-13 February 2025.
Based on the results of visual monitoring, this mountain is seen emitting white to gray main crater smoke with intensity varying from thin to thick.
The height of the smoke reached 50-1,500 meters from the summit, while the eruption reached an altitude of 500-800 meters.
