Jimi Multhazam Calls Soundrenaline a Big Festival with an Underground Feel

JAKARTA - The Upstairs vocalist, Jimi Multhazam, appreciates the concept carried out by Soundrenaline Sana Sini Jakarta 2026 which took place for two days in the Blok M District area, South Jakarta, on July 18 and 19.

This festival connects five stages which include Peruri City Park, INA Hall Peruri, M Bloc Livehouse, COMA Bar, and Melting Pop.

The concept of the district festival is considered to provide a more intimate and practical concert-watching experience for Indonesian music lovers.

"The concept of the party is okay. And it's better now that it's only at M-Bloc, if last year was more extreme," said Jimi, when met after The Upstairs' performance with OG Avamato on the first day of the festival, Saturday, July 18.

Jimi added that the centralized location provides more freedom and convenience for the audience to move from one stage to another without losing momentum.

In addition to the general comfort of the location, the frontman of The Upstairs admitted that he was very impressed with the atmosphere of the new stage, INA Hall Peruri. According to him, the new room managed to provide a unique vibe that combines the scale of a large festival with the intimacy of an independent performance.

"What is interesting for me is that I feel that tonight is one of the first people to experience INA Hall. The situation is like an underground gig but it's big. Wow, this is a festival, but the underground feeling is still there," said the musician known for his eccentric style.

The intimate atmosphere was further strengthened by the response of the audience who filled the festival area. Jimi praised the extraordinary energy emitted by the Soundrenaline audience, which he considered very responsive and not awkward in enjoying music.

It is the positive energy from the audience that is then transferred back to the stage to trigger the maximum performance of the performers.

Furthermore, Jimi hopes that a festival as big as Soundrenaline will continue to maintain its commitment to providing space for edgy musicians.

Soundrenaline's consistent move to bring in special curated foreign musicians such as DIIV and The Beths this year is considered a major differentiator from similar music festivals in Indonesia.

"So, they're not just looking for a line-up that will guarantee to bring in the crowd. Well, that's what's cool, according to me," concluded Jimi.

The Soundrenaline Sana Sini Jakarta 2026 series itself actually began on Friday, July 17, through the The Lab program.

This heating program successfully brought together various musicians, creative communities, and stakeholders of the national and international music industry to discuss strengthening the music ecosystem in Indonesia.
