PEKANBARU - A total of 25 Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) were deported by Malaysian authorities through Dumai Port, Riau, on Monday, February 10, 2025. Of these, one person is sick and needs intensive care.

Head of the Riau Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI), Fanny Wahyu, stated that her party had facilitated the repatriation of PMIs to their respective regions of origin.

"We BP3MI Riau have just facilitated the repatriation of 25 PMIs who were deported from Malaysia. This week, a total of 63 PMIs were sent home, including an additional 38 people on Saturday," said Fanny Wahyu.

The 25 migrant workers consisted of 19 men and six women, from various regions, namely Aceh one person, North Sumatra three, West Sumatra two, South Sumatra two, Lampung two, West Java three, Central Java three, East Java five, and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) four.

According to Fanny Wahyu, they were deported after serving a sentence of about five months in Malaysia. The main cause of deportation is document violations, such as blank, incomplete documents, or overstays.

Upon arrival at Dumai Port, all PMIs were immediately taken to the Riau BP3MI shelter for data collection and preparation for repatriation to their respective areas of origin. However, one person is sick and needs further treatment.

"After an assessment at the P4MI Dumai shelter, it was found that one person needed serious treatment. According to his identity, he came from Central Java, but his family was in NTB. We are coordinating with the family for repatriation," explained Fanny Wahyu.

BP3MI Riau ensures that all migrant workers who are deported will receive proper assistance and repatriation facilities in accordance with applicable procedures.
