Head Of Central Sulawesi Soulowe Village Suspected Of Sexual Violence Against 12-Year-Old Boy Not Detained By Police

Sigi Police in Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) confirmed that the case of the Village Head (Kades) Soulowe with the initials WHM who committed sexual violence against a 12 year old child had been handled according to procedures. WHM is already a suspect.

"The case of sexual violence by the Head of Soulowe Village with the initials WHM is currently still under investigation," said Sigi Police Chief AKBP Reja A Simanjuntak, in Maku Village, Central Sulawesi, Friday, February 7, as reported by Antara.

He explained that the case of sexual violence had entered the submission of the phase one case file to the Donggala District Attorney (Kejari).

"The file has been transferred to the Donggala Kejari for the second time because in the first process there are still shortcomings but everything has been fulfilled by investigators," he said.

Against the suspect, the police suspect Article 6 letter a of Law number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS) with a penalty of four years and a maximum fine of Rp. 50 million.

According to him, the suspect WHM was not detained because according to objective conditions, the detention could be carried out if the criminal act committed by the perpetrator was threatened with five years in prison or more.

"Essentially, we want to make sure all of these processes run according to applicable regulations, even though there are obstacles faced by investigators," he said.

Reja explained that regarding the status of a suspect who is still active as a village head, this is under the authority of the local government.

"We appeal to the families of the victims and other communities to maintain security and public order (Kamtibmas) and not to be anarchic," he said.

Previously, the Solidarity of Victims of Human Rights Violations in Central Sulawesi urged the police to detain the head of Soulowe Village, Dolo District, Sigi Regency with the initials WHM whose status was already a suspect in the case of Sexual Violence (TPKS) since July 2024.

The chairman of the Solidarity for Victims of Human Rights Violations in Central Sulawesi, Nurlela Lamasituju, encouraged local governments and the regional police to immediately resolve and resolve the problem of the sexual violence case experienced by H.

"All parties, including the police and local governments, must pay attention to this issue because the condition of the victim is traumatized, including the family experiencing mental stress due to the unfinished case," he said.

In fact, the victim's uncle named Kalbus said that victim H was traumatized and afraid to meet his opposite sex.

"Hopefully in the future this legal process can be completed soon and provide justice to the victims of the sexual violence case," he concluded.
