City Government Asks Task Force In 50 Kelurahan Throughout Mataram NTB To Monitor Boarding Houses Ahead Of Ramadan 2025

JAKARTA - The Mataram City Government (Pemkot) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province has strengthened the task force in 50 urban villages throughout Mataram City to supervise indications of abuse of boarding houses, especially ahead of the arrival of Ramadan 1446 Hijri/2025.

"If necessary, the kelurahan task force will be strengthened again at the environmental level for boarding house supervision," said Assistant I for Administration of Government and People's Welfare of the Mataram City Secretariat H Lalu Martawang in Mataram, Thursday, February 6, as reported by Antara.

The existence of boarding houses in Mataram City is currently the attention of the city government because it is based on the results of a sudden inspection from the Mataram City National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in January 2025, indicated drug abuse in boarding houses and entertainment venues.

In addition, boarding houses have the potential to become a gathering place for relationships that can affect and damage social order or family gatherings.

"There are even indications that the boarding house will change its function to a semi-hotel by renting it out per hour," he said.

In this regard, the Mataram City Government acted quickly to carry out short-term control before the entry of the Holy Month of Ramadan 1446 Hijri/2025 so that Muslims can carry out worship safely, comfortably, and solemnly.

Meanwhile, in the long-term target, how to realize the vision of Mataram HARUM City (Harmoni, Aman, Friendly, Unggul, and Mandiri), by preparing a legal draft study in accordance with existing Regional Regulations (Perda).

Thus, when carrying out executions in the field, the team can carry out their duties in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) so as not to conflict with the rules.

Moreover, from the identification carried out on indications that boarding houses were misused, it was found that on average it was a boarding house that did not have a bowl or owner.

This condition has a tendency to be freer and potentially misused. Therefore, the role of the apparatus under both the head of the environment and the RT is very important to provide guidance as a preventive measure.

"Conditions like that, do not let go of the supervision of the RT, to be able to contribute to creating security and comfort in their respective areas," he said.

The Mataram City Government is currently conducting a comprehensive legal study regarding the implementation of boarding houses, together with relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD), by preparing legal drafts related to the steps taken when there are irregularities in the use of boarding houses.
