JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has sealed and stopped development activities in the Lido Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in West Java (West Java).
The Minister of Environment (LH)/Head of the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH), Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, said this decision followed the discovery of a number of violations, including development activities that did not match environmental documents.
"PT MNC Land Lido is indicated not to manage rain running water (runoff) properly. As a result, sediment from the land clearing area was carried upstream of Lake Lido, causing sedimentation and silting," he said in Jakarta, Thursday, February 6, which was confiscated by Antara.
The Minister of Environment and Forestry ordered the Deputy for Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to seal and stop Lido SEZ development activities today after the Gakkum LH supervisory team conducted field verification and found a number of violations.
Deputy Gakkum KLH found development activities that were not in accordance with environmental documents and land clearing which allegedly caused the silting of Lake Lido in Watesjaya Village, Cigombong District, Bogor Regency, West Java.
The decision was also taken after Minister LH Hanif carried out a surprise inspection at SEZ Lido on February 1, 2025 as a follow-up to public complaints regarding the silting of Lake Lido.
The termination of Lido SEZ development activities today was led by the Director of Complaints and Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environment, Ardyanto Nugroho and together with the supervisory team have installed a KLH supervisory seal and a notice board for stopping activities, which are now under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Ardyanto stated that the results of the field verification revealed a significant difference between environmental documents that had been approved with the realization of construction at the Lido SEZ.
"The ongoing development activities do not manage runoff water properly, thus causing sedimentation that threatens the ecosystem around the lake. The discrepancy between environmental plans and physical implementation is a serious concern in an effort to preserve natural resources," explained Ardyanto.

Based on satellite observations, the area of Lake Lido's water has experienced a drastic narrowing, from the original allocation of 24 hectares to only 12 hectares, with a loss of about 2 hectares of water bodies.
Based on this finding, Ardyanto explained that the management must immediately fulfill all permits that have not been fulfilled. The government will apply administrative sanctions for sealing the area and fine delays, which will be adjusted to the speed of fulfilling obligations by the developer.
As part of scientific evidence related to pollution in Lake Lido, the supervisory team has taken water samples to be tested in an accredited and registered environmental laboratory. Currently, the team is still waiting for laboratory test results to determine further steps in the environmental law enforcement process.
