The Prosecutor's Office Arrests Fugitives Of Corruption In Tennis Field In West Pasaman

SIMPANG FOUR A joint team from the Prosecutor's Office has succeeded in arresting a fugitive in a corruption case in the construction of an indoor tennis court at the West Pasaman Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) for the 2018 fiscal year. Fugitive named Riko Antoni was arrested in Batam City, Riau Islands, on Wednesday morning at 10.30 WIB.

"We managed to secure the suspect Riko Antoni who was on the wanted list (DPO). In the afternoon, he was immediately taken to the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office for further investigation and named a suspect in the evening," said the Head of the West Pasaman District Attorney, Muhammad Yusuf Putra, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday 6 February.

Riko Antoni is suspected of receiving a transfer of employment or acting as a subcontractor in the indoor tennis court construction project. During the investigation process, the suspect was found to have been summoned seven times by the West Pasaman District Attorney, but never fulfilled the summons. He then fled to Batam City before finally being arrested.

A joint team consisting of the Intelligence Task Force for Reform and Information at the Indonesian Attorney General's Office, Intelligence at the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, and investigators at the West Pasaman District Attorney's Office managed to secure the suspect without a fight.

On the same day, he was flown to Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) and taken to the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's office for further investigation.

After the examination, Riko Antoni was officially named a suspect and detained at the Class II B Detention Center of Anak Air Padang for the next 20 days.

The detention was carried out based on Article 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code with subjective reasons, namely it was feared that the suspect would run away, destroy evidence, or repeat the crime.

The suspect was charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 which was amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2021 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 which has been amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2021 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

The suspect faces a minimum prison sentence of five years or more in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
