AGO: LNG Tanker Aquarius Seized By Asabri Experienced Engine Failure

JAKARTA - Investigating Director of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, confirmed that the information related to the vessel seized in the alleged corruption case of PT. Asabri suffered engine damage and disrupted its operations.

"Yes, technically is the engine problem," said Febrie when met at the Attorney General's Office Round Building, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, April 20.

The Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker, Aquarius, was confiscated from the suspect in the alleged corruption case of PT. Asabri on behalf of Heru Hidayat.

According to Febrie, since the ship was confiscated, Pertamina has operated it for the purpose of delivering PLN coal.

"The status of the ship was confiscated only because there are several considerations so it must be operational, considering its benefits," said Febrie.

Febrie said that his party had received a report related to the damage to the LNG Tanker Aquarius from Pertamina.

When asked whether the ship's damage could affect the value of the confiscated assets, Febrie said that his party would reconfirm it because currently the condition of the ship was still being examined.

"Later, we will make sure that this is checked again later, we will confirm that we need it technically. If it is technical proof of law, maybe we are. However, our mechanical engineering also does not understand what was damaged, to what extent to fix it," said Febrie.

According to Febrie, the damage to the ship will be repaired because it involves operations. For the cost of repairing the ship, it is the responsibility of Pertamina as the manager.

Regarding how much it will cost for repairs, it is not yet known because the level of damage is also unknown.

"The ship is under Pertamina's management and the damage is also not yet known to what extent, the most important thing is that we coordinate with Pertamina on why, let alone cause casualties," said Febrie.

The LNG tanker Aquarius was informed of a steam pipeline leak on Saturday, April 17th.

On Wednesday, April 10, the investigating prosecutor Jampidsus AGO confiscated the LNG Aquarius ship in the name of PT. Hanochem Shipping and ownership documents of nine barges and 10 tugboats which were also confiscated from Heru Hidayat.

In this case, AGO investigators estimated the value of state financial losses to be IDR 23.73 trillion. The state losses, in this case, were much greater than in the Jiwasraya case.

So far, the Junior Attorney for Specific Crime of Attorney General's Office has named nine suspects in the investigation of the alleged corruption case in the management of finance and investment funds by PT. Asuransi Angkatan Bers Revolusi Republik Indonesia (Asabri).

The nine suspects are the Director of PT. Asabri for the period 2011 to March 2016, Ret. May. Gen. Adam Rachmat Damiri, Managing Director of PT. Asabri for the period March 2016 July 2020 Lieutenant General Purn. Sonny Widjaja, Finance Director of PT. Asabri for the period of October 2008-June 2014 Bachtiar Effendi, and Director of PT. Asabri for the period 2013-2014 and 2015—2019 Hari Setiono.

Next, Head of Investment Division of PT. Asabri July 2012, January 2017 Ilham W. Siregar, Managing Director of PT. Prima Network Lukman Purnomosidi, and Director of PT. Jakarta Emiten Investor Relations Jimmy Sutopo, Managing Director of PT. Hanson International Tbk. Benny Tjokrosaputro, and Commissioner of PT. Trada Alam Minera Heru Hidayat.

Both Benny and Heru are suspects in the corruption case at PT. Asuransi Jiwasraya.

In addition, the Attorney General's Office has attached articles of money laundering (TPPU) to three suspects, namely Benny Tjockrosaputro, Heru Hidayat, and Jimmy Sutopo.
