South Sumatra Banyuasin Residents Disappeared By Crocodiles

PALEMBANG - A resident of Santan Sari Village, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, named Umar Bahuri (48), was reported missing, allegedly being attacked by an estuarine crocodile in the area of PT Kasih Agro Mandiri (KAM).

The head of Santan Village, Sari Ismail, said that the victim was attacked by a crocodile this morning while looking for grass in the irrigation channel of PT KAM, Sako Makmur Trans Village, block three, Sembawa District, Banyuasin.

"The residents are still looking for the victim, PT KAM is also looking for it," said Ismail as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 19.

According to him, the victim was registered as a citizen who lived in RT 2 Dusun 2 Santan Sari Village, Sembawa Banyuasin District and the victim worked daily to cut rubber and cattle.

Based on temporary information, the victim went to look for grass with his two friends, he said, but it was not yet known where the three of them were when the victim was attacked and it was suspected that the crocodile was pulled into the irrigation.

In addition, the size of the crocodile that attacked the victim was unknown. The location of the crocodile attack was in an irrigation canal that was overgrown with kumpi grass along the irrigation surface.
