JAKARTA - The police are investigating reports made by football observer Tommy Welly or Bung Towel regarding allegations of defamation and the spread of personal data due to his criticism of the former Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae Yong (STY).
"The perpetrator is in the investigation," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his statement, Sunday, January 19.
Ade Ary explained, based on the report received by the police, Bung Towel experienced cases of alleged defamation and the spread of personal or doksing data on December 17, 2024.
Bung Towel also accused a social media account of threatening his two children.
The football observer who continued to criticize STY then reported the social media account he meant to the police.
The report is registered with the number LP/B/397/I/2025/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated January 17, 2025.
