SUMBAR - The Padang SAR Office again found one victim swept away by the river current in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra). The victim was found dead.

"Today at 11.50 WIB the victim was dragged by the river current on behalf of Riki, 35 years old, we have found it and have been taken to the nearest hospital," said Head of Operations and Alerts Section (Kasi Ops) of the Class A Search and Rescue Office Padang Hendri in Pesisir Selatan Regency, Friday, January 17, confiscated by Antara.

Hendri said that the residents of Nagari (village) Sungai, Silaut District, Pesisir Selatan Regency were first reported missing by residents on Tuesday, January 14 at 16.30 WIB.

From the report received by the Padang SAR Office, Riki is known to be going home after working in the fields. However, when crossing the river suddenly the discharge or river currents increased dramatically and dragged the victim.

Previously, the joint team also evacuated two residents of Lubuk Begalung, Lengayang, Pesisir Selatan Regency due to being dragged by the river currents on Sunday, January 12, 2025, who were dead.

Apart from the South Coast, Class A Padang SAR personnel also evacuated a victim on behalf of Hariman (60), a resident of Nagari Sialang, Kapur IX District, Limapuluh Kota Regency, who died after being swept away by the river current.

For some of these incidents, the Padang SAR Office appealed to the public to increase their vigilance, especially those living around the river. Moreover, during the last few days a number of districts and cities in the Minang area have been rained with a fairly high intensity.
