Papua Deputy Governor Asks Security Apparatus To Control Situation In Beoga Puncak

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal has asked the security forces to immediately control the situation of the security and public order in Beoga District, Puncak Regency after the shooting of two teachers in that area.

"Education, health, and government services must return to normal operations as soon as possible. Our people also ask to help so that activities can return to normal there," said Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 17.

Nevertheless, the Deputy Governor supported the efforts to evacuate newcomers in the Beoga District which were continuously carried out by the local security forces in the last 2 days, counting 40 residents who were evacuated out of Beoga.

"The evacuation of migrant residents, the majority of which are teachers and health workers in Beoga, Puncak Regency, is important for their safety. The local indigenous people are also expected to help with the evacuation efforts," he said.

The act of violence for whatever reason was committed by the KKB against the teachers, said Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal, was wrong.

Moreover, he said, the victims were teachers who struggled to educate Papuan children in Beoga, Puncak Regency, which is the nation's next generation.

"The mountainous region of Papua is late in receiving education because religious teaching has entered there first. So, anyone should not confuse education by killing teachers so that our children can be smart and progress," he emphasized.

Two teachers in Beoga, Puncak Regency, were victims of the shooting of an armed criminal group named Oktovianus Rayo and Yonathan Randen.

Until now, based on information, the joint National Army/National Police apparatus who are members of the Nemangkawi Ops Task Force has succeeded in controlling security in Beoga.
