Again, Acehnese Become Victims Of TIP, Family Extorted Rp20 Million

JAKARTA - After a few days ago, it was reported that Lhokseumawe residents had become victims of the People's Sales Crime (TPPO) in Cambodia. According to a family report, the victim reportedly suffered severe torture, was electrocuted by an electric current.

This case attracted the attention of DPD RI members from Aceh H. Sudirman Haji Uma. Haji Uma explained that the latest victim reported by the family was Muhamad Rijal (22) from Pidie.

The victim experienced severe torture while being held captive by the location of the scamming operation site in an unknown area in Cambodia.

From family information, Muhammad Rizal from Gampong Gogo, Padang Tiji District, Pidie left for Cambodia in the same mode as the previous victim, namely through an agent introduced by a friend.

The victim was dispatched through Dumai, Riau Province, February 6, 2024. The victim then entered Malaysia and was then smuggled into Cambodia through Thailand.

At the beginning of Muhammad Rijal's tenure, he was promised a large salary with a management work but up to Cambodia, the victim was forced to work at a casino. Because they were unable to achieve the target, the victim was then sold to another company in Cambodia.

It was at this other company that the victim was confined and held in front of you in a room and electrocuted because they were not satisfied with the work of Muhammad Rijal who was unable to make a profit for the company through online fraud practices.

The reason for this torture, according to the family, was through the Keuchik Gampong Gogo Letter, because the capper asked for a ransom of Rp. 20 million. Because of panic, he received the news, the family had sent a ransom of Rp. 8 million from a family joint venture.

This case has been reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by sending a letter to the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens (WNI) to take steps to handle victims.

Haji Uma also said that Acehnese who want to work abroad should take a legal and validated route by the government. Not even being consumed by the lure of a large salary but it was not clear so that in the end they became victims of TIP.
