JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that big and small cases are the same as the handling process. They do not differentiate between the ongoing process.

This was conveyed by the Director of Investigation of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu in response to the receipt of the General Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri during the 52nd Anniversary of the PDIP. He was surprised that the anti-corruption commission only handled small cases, not trillions of rupiah in the state.

"Because what we issue, for example, for example, the cases we handle Rp. 10 billion with cases such as Rp. 10 trillion are the same. This means that we have to search, confiscate, examine witnesses and others while the losses are different," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, January 10.

Even so, Asep appreciated Megawati's tweet. He said his agency actually wanted to handle corruption cases of great value.

However, they are currently focusing on handling a number of cases that are indeed reported by the public.

"That is our hope too, we can handle big cases. However, there are also many people who report here, reporting to the KPK. This means that there are many cases that they (add, ed) yes, which are like that. Not all of them, for example, trillions," he said.

"Hopefully there will be information, there are residents who report to us, corruption or mega-corruption, yes, we can handle. Because we also depend on the public reporting (cases, ed) that we handle," continued Asep.

As previously reported, PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri highlighted that the KPK was only handling small cases. He said this criticism was so that the anti-corruption commission would work according to its function.

Megawati knows many people who insinuate her for often criticizing the anti-corruption commission. However, he did not want to bother with the statement.

"I'll say this later, 'Oh, Mrs. Mega just criticizes, criticizes'. Well, no. People are right, you know, people are right. I want the KPK to be right," said the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Megawati also said that her criticism was conveyed to the KPK because the struggle to form it was not easy. The institution must also be reminded because it has the aim of completing the work of the police and the Prosecutor's Office.

"To make the KPK think about it, is it easy? No. I just had a fight first. Because what, it's an ad hoc.
