Call Menpora-Ketum PSSI, Commission X DPR Asks New Coach For The National Team To Be Better Than STY

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission X DPR Lalu Hadrian Irfani said his party would summon the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo and PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir to ask for an explanation regarding the change of coach of the Indonesian national team Shin Tae-yong (STY). Then he said that his party asked the new coach of the Indonesian national team to be more accomplished than STY.

The summons to the Menpora and PSSI will be carried out after the opening of the second session of the DPR RI on January 20, 2025.

"The change of coach for the national team is a concern for the Indonesian people. Of course we will also listen to the opinions and aspirations of the community," said Lalu Ari, Thursday, January 9.

Reportedly, STY's position was replaced by Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert. Patrick will be assisted by a number of assistant coaches from the Netherlands, such as Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat.

The PKB legislator for the NTB II electoral district understands that the determination of the national team coach is under PSSI's authority. However, according to him, Commission X of the DPR RI has the right to know the reasons for the change that has shocked the Indonesian people, especially the national team supporters recently.

"That's why we will call the Menpora who will of course invite PSSI in a meeting with Commission X," explained Lalu Ari.

Lalu mengatakan, Komisi X DPR ingin mengetahui alasan di balik pelanti pelatih Timnas Indonesia. "Kenapa Patrick Kluivert yang mengganti STY? Ini diharapkan, Menpora dan PSSI bisa menjelaskannya," katanya.

Then Ari hopes that Patrick's personal problems in the past will not become a burden in training the Indonesian national team. So that the Indonesian national team will be better in the future, especially in facing the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

"PSSI must prove that the new coach of the Indonesian national team Patrick must be more accomplished than STY," said the PKB politician.

Apart from highlighting Patrick, his party will also question the track record of assistant coach, Denny Landzaat. According to information circulating, Denny Landzaat is suspected of being affiliated with politics with the South Maluku Republic (RMS).

According to him, the summons of the Menpora and PSSI did not only discuss the change of coach for the national team. The meeting will also discuss the preparation of PSSI to face the Indonesian national team match in the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

"The House of Representatives Commission X will also ask about PSSI's next programs, including the naturalization process of two players, namely Ole Romeny and Jairo Riedewald," concluded Lalu Ari.
