JAKARTA - Former DIP politician Effendi Simbolon is concerned about the appointment of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect by the KPK. According to him, a big disaster if a party secretary general is involved in a corruption case.

"I'm concerned, this is a very big disaster for the party I participated in for a long time there, yes, there has never been a position this high," said Effendi, Wednesday, January 8.

Effendi assessed that it was not only Hasto who should resign as Secretary General of PDIP, but also at the level of other leaders. In fact, according to him, Megawati Soekarnoputri as the General Chair of the PDIP also needs to be replaced.

"Yes, everything must be updated, maybe up to the general chairman, it must also be updated. Not only at the secretary general level, it's time for a total update, yes, because this is fatal, all leadership should also resign," said Effendi.

"The party does not belong to individuals, the party is regulated by the Political Party Law, so it must also be accountable to the public and must be high," he continued.

Effendi said that the change in PDIP leadership was not only about regeneration but also a form of accountability as the head of political parties. Moreover, there is a postponement of violations of the law.

"It's not about regeneration, there must be accountability from the general chairman as well that this is a violation of the law," he said.

Effendi also considered that Megawati should resign from the ketum seat as an accountability for her high-ranking officials who were caught in legal problems.

"He (Ketum) must resign, as a form of accountability. This is a serious problem with legal issues, not a matter of limited ethics to be heralded, this is legal, it must be like the Canadian prime minister just resigned to only state that he wanted to enter the state of 51, to Korea.
