KPK Chairman Will 'Watch' The Handling Of Hasto Kristiyanto's Case

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budyanto said he would oversee the investigation steps carried out by his staff in handling cases of alleged interim bribery (PAW) members of the DPR and the obstruction of investigations with the suspect PDI-P Secretary General (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto.

The KPK in handling this case has examined a number of witnesses. In fact, the latest investigators searched Hasto's house in the Kebagusan area, South Jakarta.

"In principle, we, the leadership, carry out surveillance," said Setyo to reporters at the National Police Headquarters, Wednesday, January 8.

Supervision needs to be carried out so that the investigative steps taken do not violate the rules. So far, Seyto emphasized that investigators will be professional in handling the case.

"As long as it has been done properly, it has been carried out in accordance with this, administratively there is a letter with duties and others, I think it has been formally implemented," said Setyo.

However, regarding the results of the interim investigation, Setyo was reluctant to reveal. It is only emphasized if everything is just a matter of time.

"The point is just waiting, the process is carried out by the deputy for prosecution, namely technically, the details are all carried out by investigators," said Setyo.

In this case, the KPK has not only named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect. But also Donny Tri Istiqomah who is a PDIP cadre as well as a lawyer.

They are suspected of bribing Wahyu Setiawan who served as KPU Commissioner to smooth Harun Masiku's steps to parliament.

In addition, Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

In this case, the KPK has also searched Hasto's house in Bekasi, West and Kebagusan, South Jakarta on Tuesday, January 7. From the forced attempt, investigators found documents to electronic evidence.
