PALANGKA RAYA - Head of the Correctional Division of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Central Kalimantan Regional Office, Tri Saptono Sambudji, has disabled the Head of the Class IIB Penitentiary (Lapas) Sampit Meldy Putera, due to allegations of illegal levies and drug smuggling in prisons.
"The person concerned was disabled from his position on Monday (6/1). This decision was taken by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Central Kalimantan Regional Office following allegations of buying and selling rooms and smuggling drugs in Sampit Prison," Tri said in Palangka Raya, Tuesday, January 7.
He revealed that this deactivation aims to facilitate the inspection process by the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Currently, Taufik Rachman is appointed as the Daily Executive (Plh) of Sampit Class IIB Kalapas, while Hadi Prabowo serves as Head of Correctional Security (KPLP).
"Until now, activities at Sampit Class IIB Prison are still running normally as usual, but there is an increase in supervision carried out by internal and external teams," he said.
Tri also explained that Meldy Putera's deactivation arose after a report from one of the Sampit Class IIB prison employees, namely the initials MFI.
His party is committed to thoroughly investigating this case so as not to become a polemic among the people of Central Kalimantan, especially Sampit City.
"We will conduct a thorough and transparent examination. If it is proven that there is a violation, we will take firm action in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
