President Signals Wanting Hajj Fees To Drop Again To The Hajj Fee Committee

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto gave a signal to the Working Committee (Panja) for the DPR Commission VIII Hajj costs, he wanted the 2025 Hajj costs and trips to be lowered again.

Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Marwan Dasopang, who spoke on behalf of the committee after meeting the President at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, said that the working committee caught the impression that the President was not satisfied with the decrease in costs that had been agreed upon by the government and the DPR in a meeting in Jakarta, Monday (6/1).

"Mr. President would like to thank the members of the committee, but it seems that the President is still not satisfied, he still wants to be below that," Marwan said during a press conference after the meeting between the DPR Commission VIII Hajj Fee Committee and President Prabowo, Tuesday, January 7.

He continued that the President's wish could be a capital for Commission VIII of the DPR to review the possibility of decreasing the future period of hajj costs, because for the 2025 period a decision has been made.

The Working Committee (Panja) for the Hajj Cost of Commission VIII DPR and the government in a joint meeting in the DPR, Jakarta, Monday, approved the 2025 Hajj Implementation Fee (BPIH) of Rp. 89.4 million and prospective pilgrims paid a Hajj Travel Fee (Bipih) of Rp. 55.4 million per person. Marwan said the decline in BPIH in 2025, when compared to 2024, reached around Rp. 4 million more.

"From the burden of the congregation, it decreased by Rp. 600,000, while the burden of the value of benefits also fell from Rp. 8 trillion to around Rp. 6.8 trillion," continued Marwan.

The results of the meeting, one of the main points related to the decline in the Hajj costs, were conveyed directly by the DPR Commission VIII Hajj Fee Committee to the President this afternoon.

In his report, the DPR's Hajj Fee Committee to the President also ensured that they would closely oversee its implementation in the field.

"We recorded a report to the President, the reduction in the cost of this pilgrimage with the service record getting better," said the Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR.

The Panja also said that they would oversee other matters concerning Hajj, including a list of waiting sequences, integrated Hajj computerization systems, departing quotas, and other pilgrims' rights.

"It is easy for the congregation to get information that we will control. Furthermore, we will control what will be done in Saudi, whether it is a boarding house, we will really control the amount agreed in one room. Then, food is also what is agreed upon, we will continue to guard it," said Marwan.

Members of the Working Committee for Hajj Fees of Commission VIII DPR RI met for more than two hours. During the meeting, the committee administrators who were also present, namely the Chairperson of the Working Committee for Hajj Fees of Commission VIII DPR Abdul Wachid, Abidin Fikri, Singgih Januratmoko, Anshori Siregar, Selly Andriany Change, Aprozi Alam, M. Husni, Sri Wulan, and Sigit Purnomo.
