3 Duren Sawit Residents Kidnapped By A Group Of People Claiming To Be Police, Asking For A Ransom Of IDR 2 Billion

JAKARTA - The man with the initials AJB, a resident of Jalan Otista RT 08/10, East Jakarta, was kidnapped by a number of people claiming to be a police officer. The wife reported the incident to the East Jakarta Metro Police. Information was obtained, AJB's kidnapping took place on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at around 18.45 WIB.

The kidnapping was discovered when the victim's wife asked to be picked up at her parents' house in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta.

However, the victim's driver explained that AJB was taken by an unknown person who claimed to be a police officer from his house. The victim was forcibly picked up, although it is not known what the cause was.

"AJB was forcibly picked up by four people who were reported, then took the victim using a white Toyota Avanza," the victim's wife said in a report letter, Monday, December 30.

At the time of the incident, the driver tried to withdraw AJB, his employer, from being taken. But failed because he got a blow from the alleged perpetrator.

In addition, the perpetrators also had time to bring RM, a household assistant (ART) and a neighbor of the victim with the initials T. However, when they arrived in the Otista area, RM was taken down on the streets. Meanwhile, T was still taken.

The perpetrators then asked the victim for a ransom of around Rp. 50 million to Rp. 2 billion.

The case is under investigation by the East Jakarta Metro Police.
