JAKARTA - Traffic engineering in the opposite direction or contraflow towards Jakarta, the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road is enforced on the discretion of the Police in order to unravel the increase in traffic volume.

"To unravel the increase in traffic volume during the return flow period for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays that occurred on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, over discretion from the Police, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) supports the engineering of contraflow traffic towards Jakarta," said VP. Corporate Secretary and Legal PT Jasamarga Transjawa Toll Ria Marlinda Paalo in Jakarta, Sunday.

The contraflow traffic engineering opened 1 lane from KM 55 to KM 47 towards Jakarta, the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road since 19.03 WIB.

PT JTT appealed to all road users to prioritize safety and anticipate travel, ensure that vehicles are in prime condition, have sufficient electronic money balance, charge and fuel before starting the trip and bring supplies to avoid congestion in the rest area. Always be careful when driving, obey signs and follow directions from officers in the field.

For information, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. recorded as many as 467,300 vehicles returned to the Jabotabek area on the 2024 Christmas Day Holiday which fell in the period Thursday-Saturday (26-28 December 2024).

This figure is the cumulative number of traffic flows (traffic) from the four Main Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Cikupa (from Merak), GT Ciawi (from Puncak), and GT Cikampek Utama (from the direction of Trans Java) and GT Kalihurip Utama (from the direction of Bandung).

The total volume of traffic returning to the Jabotabek area increased by 12.9 percent when compared to normal traffic (413,831 vehicles). For traffic distribution back to Jabotabek from three directions, the majority were 219,138 vehicles (46.9 percent) from the East (Trans Java and Bandung), 136,479 vehicles (29.2 percent) from the West (Merak) and 111,683 vehicles (23.9 percent) from the South (Puncak) direction.
