Terror Of Violence Against Mexico, Husband And Wife From America Shot Dead In Michoacan

JAKARTA - A married couple from the United States (US) was shot dead in the state of Michoacan, western Mexico, which was hit by a wave of violence.

Gloria A (50) and Rafael C (53) were traveling in a pickup in Angamacutiro's municipality when they were shot on Wednesday night, the attorney general's office in Michoacan said.

Reported by Reuters on Friday, December 13, the woman died at the scene, while her husband died shortly after due to his injuries at the hospital.

It is not clear why the couple was the target of violence. The investigation is still ongoing. It is known that the husband and wife have families and houses in Angamacutiro.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who took office in October, previously pledged to repeat nationally the success she achieved as mayor of Mexico City in lowering the capital's death rate.

However, his first two months in office were marked by the outbreak of cartel violence at several vulnerable points.
