JK Reported To Police, Agung Laksono: This Is Not A Criminal Problem But An Organization

JAKARTA - Agung Laksono, who also ran as Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) 2024-2029, said that the chaos of leadership dualism in PMI should not interfere with ongoing humanitarian programs.

"I ask that even though there is a problem with dualism like this, never leave the organization's obligations, so it should not interfere with PMI's humanitarian programs," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.

He emphasized that PMIs have fields that have been divided into each region and the current chaos of leadership must not interfere with the handling of people's needs for blood, especially those related to disasters because they are related to human life.

"Automatically, the task force will still apply in the regions, which is the task for the problem of blood transfusion units, part of blood donation, or related to disasters. We must continue to save human lives due to disasters, injuries, and so on," he explained.

Agung emphasized that his party was reporting the results of the rival National Conference (Munas) to the Ministry of Law to be judged fairly and in accordance with applicable regulations.

"We have submitted this to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, from there those who have the authority, because there is a decree from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, today's plan, the report has been submitted, it is in the process," he explained.

Regarding his reporting to the police because he was considered to have organized an illegal National Conference, Agung emphasized that it was not a criminal or criminal problem, but only an organizational problem.

"If you report to the police anyone can. So, about it, yes, it's up to each, because this is not a criminal or criminal case, but problems related to the organization," he said.

Agung also explained the reason why he participated in the contestation as chairman in the 22nd PMI National Conference, one of which was wanting an update atmosphere in PMI membership as well as the rules.

"It's not just changing people, but also the rules. Our rules are a bit backwards, in the past, for example, in the Articles of Association (AD/ART) it was limited to two terms of office, suddenly it was removed, now this must be pursued and changed," he said.

Jusuf Kalla was re-determined as Chair of PMI for the period 2024-2029 through the 22nd National Conference which was held in Jakarta.

Jusuf Kalla was elected thanks to the support from the XXII National Conference participants who entered exceeding 50 percent of the number of delegates entitled to attend.

However, on the other hand, Agung Laksono also claimed that his party had won more than 20 percent of the votes in support of PMI members in accordance with the provisions of the AD/ART, which was 240 out of 392 members present.

He emphasized that his party is currently waiting for an official decision from the Ministry of Law and asking all PMI members to continue working according to their respective duties.
