Budi Gunawan At Hakordia KPK 2024: President Prabowo Orders Law Enforcers Not To Hesitate Corruptors

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan said President Prabowo Subianto ordered law enforcement not to hesitate to take action against perpetrators of corruption. This is one of the efforts to eradicate corruption in the country.

He conveyed this when representing President Prabowo at the opening ceremony of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2024 at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, December 9.

"On various occasions, Mr. Prabowo Subianto has also ordered all law enforcement officers not to hesitate and to act decisively in eradicating corruption," said Budi.

In addition to corruption, another directive given by Prabowo is related to eradicating online gambling and drug smuggling. Thus, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs together with the Attorney General's Office, the National Police, and related ministries/agencies formed a Decree on Prevention and Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption and Improvement of Governance on November 4.

Then, there are other efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia. For example, by developing digital service innovations, especially in the public service sector such as e-budgeting and e-procurement to prevent potential manipulation to illegal levies.

"We believe that through synergy or collaboration between the KPK, other law enforcement agencies, and related ministries/agencies as well as the community are the keys to success in eradicating corruption in Indonesia," he said.

"Indonesians have a very important role in creating Indonesia free from corruption, building a more transparent and accountable system for Indonesia to be free from corrupt practices," continued the former Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

Previously reported, the KPK held a commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2024 for two days, December 9-10. This activity has the theme 'Stature Commitment to Eradicate Corruption for Advanced Indonesia' in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction after being inaugurated last October.

The 2024 Hakordia commemoration marks the 21st anniversary of the birth of the United Nations Against Corruption (UNCAC) or the United Nations Convention of Anti-Corruption.
