South Tangerang Police Investigate Artist Involvement In Promotion Of Djarum Toto Gambling Site

TANGERANG - The South Tangerang Police (Tangsel) is investigating the possibility of involvement of an artist or celebrity in the promotion of an online gambling site (judol) named Djarum Toto.

As is known, the police have arrested seven perpetrators of managing the gambling site at Puri Mansion, Kembangan, West Jakarta on November 11, 2024. The seven suspects arrested included NAD (30), MA (26), BMM (28), ABK (20), BSA (19), VNA (30), and RAK.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police, AKP Alvino Cahyadi, said that his party had not been able to reveal with certainty whether there was an artist or celebrity role in this case.

This is because this case is still under development, and his party has just revealed the gambling site through the South Tangerang Police Cyber Patrol Team. After that, the police managed to identify the site management site and arrested seven perpetrators.

"For public figures or celebrities, we cannot confirm because this is still in the development process. We are investigating who the parties who have helped or been involved in this case," Alvino told reporters at the South Tangerang Police, Sunday, December 8.

Alvino also mentioned that this gambling site has been operating for three years and has generated significant profits. Based on the information of one of the suspects who acted as a leader, the profits obtained in September and October reached around Rp 1.9 to Rp 2 billion per month. If calculated for a year, the total profit could reach Rp 72 billion.

In the operation of this gambling site, the seven actors have their respective roles, ranging from marketing to domain site creation. NAD (30) is responsible as a marketing leader, while MA (26) is the domain site maker.

BMM (28), ABK (20), and BSA (20) act as photo and video editors. Meanwhile, VNA (30) and RAK (28) are in charge of uploading news articles that are inserted on the Djarum Toto gambling site.

The modus operandi used by the perpetrators is to provide promotions to new users of the gambling site to attract many people. During the three years of operation, the site has more than 28 thousand members.

"This site also offers various promos and ease of victory, which attracts people to play online gambling in the hope of getting a lot of money," said Alvino.

For their actions, the seven perpetrators were charged with Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning Gambling and Article 45 Paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 27 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.
