The SAR Team For The Evacuation Of Jagantara KMP Passengers That Ran Aground In The Waters Of South Lampung

The joint SAR team consisting of Basarnas and Polairud continued to evacuate passengers on the KMP Jagantara ship that ran aground in the waters of Kandang Lunik Island, Bakauheni, South Lampung Regency.

The head of the Bakauheni SAR Post, Rezie Kuswara, stated that this incident occurred on Saturday night at 22.30 WIB. "Until now, we are still evacuating the passengers of KMP Jagantara," said Rezie, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, December 8.

The incident began when KMP Jagantara sailed from Pier IV of Bakauheni Port to Merak Port, Banten. The ship ran aground around Kandang Lunik Island due to bad weather marked by heavy rain, limited visibility, and strong current.

"Based on the captain's statement, the ship ran aground at around 21.20 WIB because it was swept away by the current," explained Rezie.

Until now, the SAR team is still recording the number of passengers and ensuring the safety of all people on board. No pedestrian passengers were recorded, but vehicles were on board.

There are no counter or pedestrian passengers, but there are 4 units of passengers using motorbikes, 6 units of private vehicles, 2 units of Pick Up, 6 units ofANGE diesel, 3 units of Bus Mode, 10 units of Buses, 18 units of Big Trucks, 13 Tronton units, and 1 unit of Trailer so the total number of passengers is 63 vehicles.

Rezie emphasized that evacuation efforts continue to be carried out with priority ensuring the safety of all passengers. "We will continue to monitor the situation and report further developments," he added.

This incident is a reminder of the importance of vigilance against weather conditions and shipping safety, especially in vulnerable water areas during the rainy season.
