Jakarta Has The Potential For Heavy Rain Until Tomorrow, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Isnawa Adji revealed the potential for heavy rain in Jakarta from two days to tomorrow, Sunday, December 8. This is based on the predictions of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"Based on the release of information from the BMKG, the results of the latest analysis identified the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings," Isnawa said in his statement, Saturday, December 7.

The reason Jakarta will be hit by heavy rain for two days is based on the emergence of tropical cyclone 91S which was detected in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Banten.

The tropical cyclone seeds are expected to have an impact on weather conditions and sea waves in parts of Indonesia from 6 to 8 December 2024.

"The impact of the presence of Tropical Cyclone 91S seeds is estimated to include rain with moderate to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in Lampung, Banten, West Java, and Jabodetabek areas," said Isnawa.

Meanwhile, in the southern waters of the Sunda Strait, the impact of strong winds can reach the range of 15-25 knots (27-46 km/hour).

"The public is advised to always be vigilant and alert to anticipate the impact of extreme weather," he said.
