JAKARTA The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it will develop an investigation into the case that ensnared the Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru, Risnandar Mahawa. The alleged money laundering crime (TPPU) is also said to be one of the opportunities that will be investigated.
Risnandar has been named a suspect in the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities with two other officials, namely the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Pekanbaru, Indra Pomi Nasution, and Acting Head of the General Section of the Pekanbaru Regional Secretariat (Setda), Novin Karmila. All three were arrested during a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Monday, December 2, 2024.
"In the investigation process, there is a possibility that the alleged articles will increase, including money laundering (TPPU)," said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
In line with that, the Daily Executive (Plh) of the Director of Investigation of the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, said that the investigation would be carried out during the investigation. The focus of the investigation includes tracing the source of billions of rupiah found in the OTT.
"Including allegations of levies from regional apparatus organizations (OPD) requested by Risnandar. We will also explore other elements of admission in the next development process," said Taufik.
Previously, in the OTT which was held on December 2, the KPK arrested eight people in Pekanbaru, Riau, and one other person in Jakarta. Of the nine people, three of them, namely Risnandar, Indra Pomi Nasution, and Novin Karmila, were named suspects.
