The 2025 Re-Pilkada In The Empty Box Area Was Held August 27

The General Election Commission (KPU) together with Commission II of the DPR RI agreed to schedule a re-vote in an area won by an empty box on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

The agreement was taken at a hearing (RDP) of the Indonesian KPU together with Bawaslu, DKPP, Ministry of Home Affairs and Commission II of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.

"We have consulted in the form of RDP with Commission II to discuss the PKPU draft, the stages for areas with empty ponds or empty boxes to win the regional elections while waiting officially. Later, when the results are complete, we will prepare if there is an empty pool that wins, we will hold a regional election with two options that we simulate, namely between August and September," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Afifuddin in front of the DPR Commission III meeting room at the Nusantara Building.

"We will tell you that in August, it was August 27 on Wednesday, for September on September 24 it was also Wednesday, and it was agreed to be held in August," he continued.

Afif explained that the consideration of the re-cash agreement was agreed on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, taking into account a faster, better time. At that time, he said, it was also considered not too far from the Simultaneous Pilkada which was just held on 27 November.

"So this is what we have consulted, for the next time we will discuss the details of the implementation and further stages after these meetings," Afif said.

Afif said that his party was still following the recapitulation of vote calculations in districts/cities until December 6 and December 9 at every level.

So far, according to Afif, there are two empty boxes that have won, namely in the Bangka Pilbup and Pangkalpinang Pilwakot. If the official result is the same as the quick count, then the KPU will start the re-cash stage in February.

"Yesterday's empty box was 37, yes, one governor, one province, then the other district/city. The information is that there are two empty boxes that won, if I'm not mistaken Pangkalpinang yes and also Bangka Regency," said Afif.

"We will wait for the official one, but we as the organizers must prepare a scenario. If we win, the stages must be prepared immediately because we will start the stages around February if I'm not mistaken," he concluded.
