BNPB: 2,200 Families Victims Of Lewotobi Eruption Place Huntara At The End Of This Year

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that as many as 2,200 families (KK) of refugees victims of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara began to occupy temporary housing (huntara) at the end of this year.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said as many as 420 units of shelter buildings would be prepared for thousands of families of victims of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki.

One unit of huntara has five doors to live in, five families. Currently, 14 shelter units have been built and our construction process will be completed by the end of this year," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 3.

BNPB is optimistic that the construction process for the shelter is complete with the availability of clean water carried out by Yonzipur/YKR soldiers at Kodam IX/Udayana running smoothly, so that it can be immediately occupied by refugees.

According to Abdul, although temporary, the construction has strong specifications, because the construction is from a light steel range and is also located far beyond the hazard radius of volcanic material ejection or cold lava floods.

His party ensures that the safety and comfort aspects of the threat of danger are the most prioritized considering the ongoing eruption activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki and added conditions that are starting to enter the rainy season.

"We know there is a danger, because it has entered the rainy season, so it is impossible and very risky for refugees, especially for vulnerable groups to survive in open tents," he said.

The head of BNPB Suharyanto and his entourage on Thursday (4/12) morning are scheduled to directly ensure that the process of constructing shelters and handling 4,419 victims in centralized evacuations goes well, including the plan to relocate permanent housing for disaster victims in East Flores.
