3 Schools In Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan Flooded, Semester Exams Forced Postponed

CENTRAL KALIMANTAN - A number of elementary schools (SD) in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) were flooded due to overflowing rivers. As a result, students have to postpone taking the semester exam.

Secretary of the Palangkaraya City Education Office (Disdik), Aprae Vico Ranan, said that flooding in a number of city points disrupted teaching and learning activities in several elementary schools, including SDN 1 Bereng Bengkel, SDN 1 Pahandut Seberang, and SDN 1 Petuk Katimpun.

"The three schools cannot carry out teaching and learning activities because the river water has submerged their classrooms and the school semester exam has to be postponed," said Vico in Palangkaraya, Monday, December 2, confiscated by Antara.

The rain that has hit since the last few days has made river water discharge increase and inundated a number of schools. As a result, in addition to disrupting ongoing testing activities, this condition also requires schools to postpone the face-to-face learning process.

Aprae explained that the Palangkaraya City Education Office immediately addressed this situation by planning the implementation of distance learning (PJJ) while waiting for the overflow of the river to recede.

"We will immediately implement distance learning as a temporary alternative. Students can continue to study at home while waiting for weather conditions to improve and river water discharge to fall," he said.

The school has started preparing a distance learning media for students. In addition, teachers are also instructed to continue to coordinate with parents so that learning activities can continue even in emergency situations.

This flood also interfered with access to several other educational facilities in Palangkaraya. According to temporary data, a number of roads to schools were also submerged in water, making it difficult for teachers and students to come to school.

"Hopefully the flood will recede soon, so that teaching and learning activities will return to normal," he said.

He also appealed to the public to remain alert to all possibilities considering the rainy season is ongoing.

The Palangkaraya City Government through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) also appealed to the public to maintain safety and pay attention to the development of information related to weather and environmental conditions.
